Life Balance 101 – Do you have it?

We have over 100 waking hours in a week. What do you do with it?

Everyone wants balance but how can we reach it when everything is trying to throw us off kilter?

Not only do we have conflicting priorities, but we have regularly conflicting thoughts. On top of it, it always seems we don’t have enough time in the day. How do we manage it all?

This is my escape, what's yours?!

Every sense is activated – the feeling of the wind in my face, the beautiful scenery portraying an array of vibrant colors, the sound of the rumbling engine underneath me, the whiff of fresh pine needles during a Spring morning, and the taste of my wintergreen gum. I am being pulled to this present moment as if I had no choice, with no worries about yesterday and no apprehensions about tomorrow. I’m experiencing everything, yet, being distracted by nothing.


Changing a behavior? Create a GAP!

I always find it amazing that so many people actually survive college. When I say ‘survive’, I’m not referring to surviving a heavy class schedule, ten-page essays, or scary mid-terms; I mean it quite literally. How do we make it out alive?

During my college days, my roommate and I decided to invest in a Kegerator (need picture?) which allowed for an abundant and ever-flowing supply of beer. When it was sloshing with fluid, we continued to consume; quite quickly and efficiently. If beer was a diet plan, we’d be in better shape than Jillian Michaels.


Emotional Battles - Learning Comes After!

We have emotional battles we face every day – stemming from an argument with a friend or loved one, a disagreement with a co-worker, or difficulties on the home-front. Life has a way of throwing a few grenades our way to shake things up, and it’s how we handle these situations that determines if we can throw the grenade back or if it explodes in our face.


A Caffeine Love Story

Relationships are tough at times, but the first stage in a new relationship typically is typically exciting, thrilling, and blissful. This relationship was no different. Caffeine and I met in High School and were quickly joined at the hip. She had her own little special way of lifting my mood, putting a smile on my face, and boy did she get my heart pumping! The smell of her aroma, the taste of her body, the way she made me feel… there was nothing better than waking up to her in the morning!

Can they ever get along? Do you have difficulties putting words to how you feel? Do you tend to say things you didn’t really mean because you couldn’t find the right words? When trying to convey your emotions, does the language that escapes your mouth just come out as ‘word vomit’ which inevitably gets you into trouble? Is communicating your emotions difficult for you? We develop beliefs for every area of our life, yet, the most important beliefs that contribute towards our success are the ones that determine the feelings towards oneself. How you view yourself, has a direct relationship with the success you will have in the world – If you don’t believe you possess value, than there is nothing for you to share.

Some people form beliefs quickly. Some will accept the word of others based on their merit or their relationship with the person. Some will read books and instantly subscribe to the teachings and later regurgitate them to anyone willing to listen. Others will listen to TV ‘experts’, then accept what was said as fact. How many health practices, fitness plans, or diets have been declared the best thing EVER, than later debunked as unhealthy or harmful?


Engage Auto-Pilot?

Breaking it down, a belief is simply a thought repeated over and over again and held to be true.

Beliefs are the these thoughts we have developed an emotional attachment to, and thus, affects every area of our existence and understanding of reality. Our beliefs are the filter we see the world through.
